About the artist (1947)
Dekker is a modest artist who combines a mixed media technique with investigative brushwork to create subdued but intriguing atmospheres. His artworks could be described as mood pieces. Dekker says that his works should be seen as open narratives of abstract environments that may evoke certain sentiments or memories. The artist goes on to say that the viewer may recognise certain elements that allude to the mystery in which reality has been captured. In recent years the artist has shifted his focus; minimising colour to concentrate on pure mark-making.
